I've been out of school for a little while, but I really feel like I'm getting to the age where I need to go back and get a diploma and start a career. I don't have any extra money of my own, and my parents can't help me out either. I'm ready to do the hard work, but I don't even know where to start. It all seems overwhelming. Do you have any advice on what first step I could take?
Ready for My Life To Start
Dear Ready for My Life To Start:
Speaking from experience, deciding what to do in life can be stressful. I just turned 27 and I finally realized that I just needed to do something. Maybe down the line I will truly decide what I really want to do, but for now I just need to get in the game - start a career.
Your first step is deciding to go. Ask yourself, is what you are doing right now so good for you?
Second is to go to your local tech school, college or university of your choosing and talk to an admissions representative. They will set you up with everything. They will ask you about your skills, interests and maybe help give you a career assessment test to help narrow a field and area that you're best suited for. Then they will help you with the application, talk about the tuition and how to apply for funding, scholarships/bursaries and other ways to fund your program.
If I had of known it was this easy to apply to school and get it I would have done this a lot sooner.
Don’t get overwhelmed just take it day by day!
